Westfield councilor wants to improve traffic safety near proposed self-storage

Westfield – Ward 2 Councilman Ralph Figgi made three proposals at the end of the March 2 City Council meeting that were sent to the Traffic Commission. The recommendations are an attempt to protect a residential neighborhood from increased traffic due to a proposed self-storage development.

Figgi is asking the traffic commission to lower the speed limit to 25 mph on South Meadow, Toledo, Lozier, Cleveland, Bicycle and East Silver Streets in the area known as Lozierville.

He’s also asking the commission to research the possibility of adding four-way stop signs at the corners of East Silver, Lozier and Noble Streets, and to examine speed-controlled measures at Cleveland, Bicycle, Lozier, South Meadow and Toledo Streets .
