Westfield – Two public hearings are scheduled this month for the $3.3 million HOME-ARP program allocation for the cities of Chicopee, Holyoke and Westfield from the American Rescue Plan Act.
The Home Investment Partnership program of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development is designed to provide funding to developers for affordable rental housing production. To meet the minimum population requirement, Chicopee, Hollyoaks and Westfield have participated in the program as a consortium for the past 20 years. As a group, they received $3,329,224 through the American Rescue Plan Act, a coronavirus relief bill passed by Congress in 2021.
Westfield’s share of that allocation would be $502,712. City officials plan to hold a public hearing on Wednesday, February 15 at 5 p.m. at City Hall to discuss how the money could be used. A similar hearing for Holyoke is set for February 6 at 5 p.m.
