Suspect charged in fatal hit-and-run crash that killed 23-year-old man in Mobile

Police said a suspect was arrested on Monday and booked in connection with a hit-and-run accident earlier this month that killed a pedestrian.

Jasman Jerome Johnson, 32, was charged with leaving the scene of the accident with injuries, according to Mobile County Metro Jail records.

Police said the incident occurred on February 18 at approximately 10:57 p.m. when MOBILE officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at Old Shell Road and Lafayette Street.

Authorities learned that the victim, 23-year-old John Wesley Holt, had been struck by a vehicle while standing in the middle of the road, which fled the scene.

Holt was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries on 21 February.

Mobile police arrested Johnson on Monday before taking him to jail.
