Pac-Five, Punahou win HHSAA girls’ soccer titles

The Pac-Five and Punahou won the HHSAA Division I and II girls’ soccer championships, respectively, on Saturday evening at Waipahu High School.

Bad weather caused both championship games to be moved from the grass surface of Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium to the artificial turf at Waipahu.

The Pac-Five won the Division II title game 1–0 over Kappa with Miya Hironaka scoring in the 39th minute. It was the Pac-Five’s fifth consecutive state title and second overall.

In the Division I title match, Punahou won 3–0 over Kamehameha. Zevani Salanoa scored in the 26th minute, followed by Carly Ann Cormack in the 60th minute and Ellie Gusman two minutes later. Saturday was Buffonblue’s first girls state soccer title since 2011.
