NBA insider says Celtics would be ‘silly’ to trade Jaylen Brown in Kevin Durant deal

Kevin Durant trade rumors are erupting once again. However, ESPN’s Jalen Rose says the Boston Celtics should avoid going that route if it means breaking up the pairing of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

On Tuesday’s episode of “Get Up” Rose said the Celtics would be “foolish” to pursue a potential trade for the Brooklyn Nets star if it meant giving up Jaylen Brown.

โ€œThey would be foolish at this point in their careers to trade Jaylen Brown and break up Jason Tatum and that pairing โ€” that a lot of people have had a big clamor for doing for some strange reason over the last few years โ€” of Kevin Durant. At this point in my career,” Rose said. “I’m not stupid. I know how impressive and great KD is. But at this age, he has dealt with a few injuries over the years. You don’t trade Jaylen Brown for that. If you are the Celtics.

The rumble of a possible deal has increased in recent days in the wake of the Nets trading Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith said Monday that the Celtics are taking calls regarding Durant, as well as removing Brown’s name from potential deals.

The 26-year-old Brown was linked to a potential deal over the summer when the 34-year-old Durant requested a trade to Brooklyn. Ultimately, Durant ended up staying with the Nets for this season. However, Irving’s trade request the previous week was quickly granted, with the team sending him to the Western Conference.

The question now is whether the Nets will go even further on Durant in the days leading up to the NBA trade deadline. The Celtics are rumored to be in the mix for the Nets star. However, Rose is among the voices telling Boston to leave if it means giving up Jaylen Brown.
