White Lake TWP, Michigan. (WXYZ) – One person died after an ice boat accident on Pontiac Lake Sunday morning, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
Polci says Dan Irwin, an 81-year-old man from Independence Township, was rowing his 27-foot long boat on the eastern side of Campbell Lake when it crashed about 100 yards from shore.
Police tell us they’re not sure what caused the accident, but the Sheriff’s Office search and rescue team believes she hit her head on the ice. Campbell was wearing a helmet and face shield.
Campbell died later that afternoon in hospital.
The police is still investigating the accident. The post-mortem has been done on Monday.
