(WXYZ0 – Gas prices in Michigan and Metro Detroit have declined for the first time in weeks, according to the latest numbers from AAA Michigan.
The organization reports that gas prices in the state have fallen 8 cents to an average of $3.39 per gallon. This is 8 cents higher than this time last month and 2 cents higher than last year.
In Metro Detroit, prices fell 5 cents to an average of $3.45 per gallon, which is still 8 cents higher than this time last year.
According to AAA, data from the Energy Information Administration showed that gas demand has increased, but gas stocks have also increased.
“Michigan motorists are getting some relief at the pump,” said Adrienne Woodland, a spokeswoman for AAA-The Auto Club Group. “If demand doesn’t pick up, drivers could see a drop in pump prices this week.”
