Family of woman hit by car in Mililani wants answers

HONOLULU (KHON2) – Police said anger and confusion reigned for the family of a woman who was struck by a car in Mililani and then attacked by the driver of that car. They still don’t understand why this happened and are looking for answers.

“I’m about to cry,” said Pauline Taliolu.

She could hardly hold back her tears. The family has confirmed that the woman who was hit by the car in Mililani town center is their daughter-in-law, Christel Taliolu. She said that her son, Christel’s husband, is in the hospital. The family wants to know why someone would try to hurt her and her baby girl.

“They’re doing what I’m doing what my son is doing just hoping she makes it. I thank God my granddaughter didn’t get caught up in this,” said Pauline.

The family tells us that Christel Taliolu may have saved her baby’s life by pushing the stroller before she was hit by the car.

Pauline said, “I don’t know what she saw, but she pushed the stroller away from her and that’s when she got hit.”

Krystle was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police said when the suspect attacked Krystle with a crowbar, a man stepped in to help and the suspect began hitting him. He was taken to the hospital and police said his condition was also critical. Palin said that perhaps the man had saved Krystle’s life and wanted to send this message.

Pauline said, “I’m so grateful you were there, you saved my daughter and I’m so sorry you were injured.”

She said she is hopeful that the two families can be reunited when both victims recover. He said it is also important that the suspect is punished. The suspect was arrested on charges of attempted murder and remains in custody.
