Crawford County, Michigan — A 48-year-old man has died after a state trooper shot him.
It happened Friday night in Crawford County along northbound I-75 near West Federal Highway, just northeast of Houghton Lake.
State police say a trooper from the Houghton Lake Post stopped a suspected drunk driver on the side of the highway.
As per a tweet by the MSP, the stoppage led to an officer firing. The officer was not hurt in the incident.
Investigators are now looking into what led up to the shooting.
Northbound I-75 in Crawford County was closed for several hours overnight while investigators worked the scene.
