Two soldiers from Fort Wainwright are receiving treatment for injuries sustained when an Army attack helicopter crashed at Talkeetna Airport during a training flight on Sunday.

Troops with the 25th Attack Battalion were taken from the scene to area medical facilities for treatment, according to a statement Monday from the army’s 11th Airborne Division. One of the soldiers was taken to the hospital and the other was taken away by ambulance.

A division spokesman says the AH-64 Apache helicopter was one of four that were participating in the training.

The spokesman said a team from the Army Combat Readiness Center at Fort Rucker, Ala., will investigate the accident.
