NEW YORK (AP) – Major League Baseball has formed a new economic study committee in light of possible bankruptcy for the company that owns local broadcast rights to 14 of its 30 teams.
The committee will meet next week at an owners’ meeting in Palm Beach, Florida.
The committee will also examine revenue disparity among MLB clubs.
The committee’s existence was disclosed to The Associated Press by a person familiar with the plan, who spoke on condition of anonymity because no announcements had been made.
The network operates under the name Bally Sports.
