Huge crowd turns out for Chinese New Year celebrations in Centennial Park

Nashville, Tenn. (WTVF) – It’s officially the Year of the Rabbit and hundreds of people gathered in Nashville’s Centennial Park for Chinese New Year celebrations.

The Chinese Arts Alliance of Nashville put on a free event, which included singing, drumming and dancing.

For years past the event was held at Vanderbilt University, but this year with pre-registration of over 1,000 people, the group needed a larger venue.

Organizers said they started the event years ago to bring people together.

โ€œWhen I first came here in 1994, I was seen as a Chinese person, because people often did not see my face. I have a dance background and I feel that I have to bring a different culture here. Need to.” said Jen-Jen Lee, director of CAAN.

If you missed the performance this weekend, Nashville’s Chinese Arts Alliance will be performing Mariachi Square 4th February from 3:00 PM โ€“ 5:00 PM
