United States Attorney Rachel S. Rollins’ office said a Boston man whom authorities are calling a “serial bank robber” is facing charges in connection with the September 2022 robbery of a Brookline bank.
Jerome Lamont Turner, 47, was charged with one count of bank robbery and will appear in federal court in Boston next week.
According to prosecutors, on Sept. 26, 2022, a man, identified by law enforcement as Turner, entered a Brookline bank and approached a teller and inquired about opening a new account.
Officials said the man was provided with a bank pamphlet containing information on opening a new account and exiting the bank.
Several minutes later, prosecutors allege, Turner returned to the bank and approached the same teller and handed the teller the pamphlet, which now read “Let Me Have 17,000 in Large Bill No Die Pack”.
According to prosecutors, as the teller collected the money, Turner asked him for more money before leaving the bank.
Authorities said an investigation identified Turner on video surveillance of the bank and his fingerprints on the pamphlet from a previous arrest less than a week before the September 26 robbery.
Authorities said Turner was found wearing the same clothing he wore in the September 27, 2022, Brooklyn robbery. After a “violent struggle”, they were taken into custody and reportedly more than $2,500 in cash was recovered, according to prosecutors.
