Arizona teen battling leukemia surprised by Super Bowl ticket

Table, Ariz. ,knxv) — Kevin Weingar faces his toughest test yet.

The high school football player was diagnosed with leukemia weeks after helping his school win the Arizona state championship.

Kevin’s mother, Dorlee Winegar, remembers having that conversation with the doctors in the emergency room.

Doorly said, “He’s a guy who literally knocked another kid’s helmet off on the field.” And now he has cancer. how does this work?

He has undergone several rounds of chemotherapy.

On Friday he returned to his school to see his classmates and team.

“During the announcements, he said that all the student-athletes come to the gym,” laughed Kevin. “And I felt I had to speak, and I haven’t spoken in a while.”

Kevin didn’t have to give a speech. Instead, he was in wonder.

Nicole Bidwell announced, “On behalf of the Arizona Cardinals Football Club, we would like to offer you two tickets to the Super Bowl.”

Kevin said the support of his community is what keeps him going.

“Having that support. I could feel the support and I could feel everybody pushing and pulling for me,” he said.
