Missing man found dead in remote Coconino County

COCONINO COUNTY, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — A man who went missing over the weekend has been found dead in a remote desert area of ​​Coconino County.

According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, officers were first called to the Antelope Hill area of ​​Highway 89 on Saturday afternoon. Officers were told a person was breaking in and when DPS troopers arrived, they found the person had left. Sheriff’s deputies and troopers were told the person had gone northbound on the highway.

Deputies were later able to identify the man as 46-year-old Conan Stults of Utah. After spending several hours trying to find Stults, Coconino County Search and Rescue was called for help. Efforts continued into the afternoon and Sunday, but on Monday, K9 search and rescue teams found Stults dead in the Wupatki National Monument area, south of Lomaki Pueblo.

Details about his death have not been released, and are still under investigation by CCSO and the Medical Examiner.
