TOKYO (Reuters) – Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said on Monday he would choose the most suitable person to take over as central bank governor in April, noting that the decision could wait until the current governor’s term expires on April 8.
Kishida, speaking in parliament, did not name names or give specific details of the timing.
Kishida told the lower house of parliament’s budget committee that foresight of monetary policy and coordination between the central bank and the government would be “important” factors in the decision-making.
