Substitute teacher arrested, banned from Decatur City Schools

Decatur, Ala. (WHNT) – Decatur City Schools (DCS) says a substitute teacher was arrested in the Austin Middle School parking lot Thursday afternoon.

The Decatur Police Department (DPD) stopped the car in the parking lot of Austin Middle School on Thursday around 2:30 p.m., the school system said.

The man driving the vehicle, later identified as Taylor Britton, was a Kelly Services employee subbing at Austin Middle School.

Decatur police said Britain was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing government operations and a traffic citation for tinted windows.

Britton’s full bond was set at $10,900.

A Decatur City Schools spokeswoman said Britton was issued a “lifetime citation” from school property.
