Crews are responding to a dryer fire at a commercial building Thursday

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – Davenport firefighters responded to a dryer in a commercial building Thursday.

The Davenport Fire Department responded to the 7000 Block of Brady Street around 8:47 p.m. Thursday for a structure fire, according to a news release. A caller said a commercial dryer was on fire inside a local manufacturing facility.

First crews on scene reported a large commercial building with light smoke visible inside.

Firefighters found the fire inside a dryer on a platform about 15 feet in the air, the department said. Crews had to remove access panels to reach the fire and two hose lines were used to extinguish the fire.

The fire was extinguished after about 30 minutes, according to the fire department. The group stayed there for another 30 minutes before leaving.

Fire and water damage to the dryer was minor and smoke damage was minimal, according to fire officials.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to the teams. There were no injuries.
