Ukraine receives .5 billion in new financial aid, says PM

Kyiv (Reuters) – Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmyal thanked the United States on Saturday for its support after Ukraine received another $1.5 billion in international financial aid.

“Ukrainian state budget received a grant of $1.5 billion. This is the last tranche of $4.5 billion in aid from the United States from the Bank’s Global Trust Fund,” Shmyhal wrote on Twitter.

He said the funds will be used to pay budget expenditures for pension payments and social assistance programmes.
