indian auto maker, Tata Motors (NYSE:) The Tata Tiago EV electric hatchback is set to launch on September 28. Revealed on World Auto Day this year, the Tiago will likely feature a battery of less than 30 kWh with an expected range of around 200 kilometers (124 miles).
Details about the Tiago EV are still being reported. However, Tata Motors MD Shailesh Chandra said it will provide “an exciting but easy ride, a silent cabin, and low cost of ownership to an accessible level.” What is clear is that the Tiago EV will be the cheapest EV in India, with at least one variant expected to be priced under the Rs 10 lakh (~$12,550) mark.
Tata Motors leads the Indian electric vehicle market with an 88% share in the segment. The company also previously announced that it will have 10 battery electric vehicles in its portfolio by 2025, some of which may be produced at the repurposed Sanand plant recently purchased from Ford India.
