Investing.com – Australian shares fell after the close on Monday, as losses in Australia and sectors sent shares lower.

At the close in Sydney, the index was down 0.28%.

Among the biggest gainers of the day on the day were Polynovo Ltd (ASX:), which rose 9.96% or 0.14 points and traded at 1.49 at the close. while, Unibail Rodamco Westfield ASX: added 4.00% or 0.15 points to close at 3.90, and OZ Minerals Ltd (ASX: 3.49% or 0.88 points) rose at 26.13 points at the close of trading.

As for the weakest performers at the end of trading today, Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals Ltd (ASX:) stock closed down at 6.95% or 1.49 points, and traded at 19.94 levels at the close. Magellan Financial Group Ltd (ASX: 5.75%, or 0.72 points, down 5.75%, or 0.72 points, at 11.80 and Breville Group Ltd (ASX:) was down 5.20% or 1.06 points at 19.33.

Declining shares outnumbered advancers on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 863 to 480, and 403 closed unchanged.

Which measures the implied volatility of the S&P/ASX 200 options, down 1.21% to 16.74.

Gold futures for December delivery fell 0.87%, or 14.60, to $1,668.90 an ounce. Elsewhere in commodity trading, crude oil for delivery in November was down 1.12%, or 0.95, to $83.81 a barrel, while Brent oil for November was down 0.77%, or 0.70, to trade at $90.65 a barrel.

AUD/USD remained unchanged 0.48% to 0.67, while AUD/JPY fell 0.08% to 95.96.

US Dollar Index futures rose 0.24% to 109.76.
