(Reuters) – Samsung Electronics said on Thursday that nothing had been decided after a newspaper reported that the company is expected to return to the Russian market this year, six months after suspending shipments in the wake of the invasion of Ukraine.
On Wednesday, Russia’s Izvestia newspaper quoted a source close to the company as saying sales could start in October. The source said that Samsung (KS:) will resume supplying equipment to retailers and restart its official online store.
Samsung froze shipments in early March due to “current geopolitical developments”. The company was the main supplier of phones to Russia as of the fourth quarter of 2021, accounting for 30% of the market.
