In response to the most complex Ethereum upgrade yet, the infrastructure provider Infura is about to develop a decentralized version of its service that will be based on a scalable Ethereum architecture and application programming interfaces (APIs) for Web3 developers. The company is controlled by Joseph Lubinblockchain co-founder and founder of blockchain software company ConsenSys.
Rejecting claims that the merger, in which the blockchain made its historic transition to Proof-of-Stake, could lead to more centralized control of the blockchain, Infura will offer its customers a decentralized way to manage network nodes. Through this, the company will provide app developers and users with a solution that could be compared to Amazon Web Services for Ethereum and other blockchains.
According to the plan, the new service is expected to launch in the first half of next year, Bloomberg reported.
โWhat we want to do is offer users access to data in a decentralized way,โ said EG Galano, the co-founder of Infura. “We have more impact than what we would be comfortable with in an ecosystem.”
Aiming to build a network of decentralized node operators, โInfura is already accepting applications from operators interested in joining its access program now,โ according to Galano.
At the same time, the company plans to continue offering a centralized version of its service to Infura users worldwide, he said.
Infura says its global community includes more than 400,000 developers from a wide range of companies, including Uniswap, Coinbase Wallet and MakerDaoamong others.
