FC Barcelona has already met representatives of Palmeiras prodigy Andric with the aim of signing the teen sensation in the near future.
The 16-year-old is the talk of Brazilian football and traveled to Europe to visit a number of top clubs earlier in 2022.
During a trip to the Catalan capital, sports Endrick’s team has claimed with Barcelona’s board of directors to discuss how the junior could one day ditch the Blaugrana and emulate the greats of his countrymen such as Romario, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Neymar.
While seated, Barcelona are said to have told Endrick’s representatives that they have been watching the player for some time, and that the wonder has ticked all the right boxes for him to become their number one priority in the Brazilian market.
In the medium term, the Catalans believe that Andreik could become an important name on the world stage after he has already been called up to the first team of Brazilian top-flight leader Palmeiras despite his young age.
With Indrik turning 18 on July 21, 2024, Barcelona are already designing a strategy to close emerging talent who forged a three-year contract with current employers in São Paulo on his 16th birthday.
His €32m ($31.6m) value shouldn’t be a deterrent, and it’s in line with what Manchester City paid in 2016 when they pardoned Palmeiras for another academic talent in Gabriel Jesus.
Moreover, it is also cheaper than the 45 million euros ($44.4 million) Real Madrid paid Flamengo and Santos for Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo respectively before they reached adulthood, with those who have now proven to be good investments given that the pair are now a mainstay in the Heroes of Carlo Ancelotti. The first team to win the League and the Spanish League.
Real Madrid is naturally Barcelona’s rival to catch Andreik as it was with the aforementioned Los Blancos duo.
They learned their lesson from a failed lure in Rodrygo, however, after the player’s father gave Barcelona his word that he would join them before changing his mind, Barcelona would have preferred to negotiate a potential transfer directly with Palmeiras.
Talks will take place around this next summer, it is said, with Indrik arriving at the Camp Nou ahead of the 2024/2025 season and ready to prepare for life as Robert Lewandowski’s successor at the elite.
