Data released by the Association of Automobile Manufacturers in the region showed, on Friday, that new car registrations in Europe grew in August, ending 13 months of consecutive declines.
The European Association of Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA) said the number of new vehicles registered in the European Union, Britain and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) grew 3.4% over the year to 748,961 units.
In the European Union, the rise was 4.4%.
All four major EU markets – Spain, Italy, Germany and France – reported a rise in car registrations.
